Ed Royal & Enne - “the groove collage”

IVRCD001 distibuted worldwide by www.our-distribution.com

All you groove connoisseurs out there, please give it up for two Austrias most original jazz funk soldiers: Ed Royal & Enne.

Serving loyal in Uncle Jams Army for several years this dynamic duo has already released eight 12”s on Ed´s own label

Innvision-Records - much praised by critics and in the cases and playlists of international DJ´s like Makossa (G-Stone,FM4),

JonH (Fort Knox Five), Kid Loco (Yellow Productions) and Rob Birch (Stereo MC´s). Their second single “born to funk” was sold

out within a month and featured on the official soundtrack of Steve Martins remake of “The Pink Panther”. After numerous remixes

for acts like All Good Funk alliance or Parov Stelar, contributions to popular compilations like “Brazilectro” or “Ursadelica”

and countless DJ gigs worldwide, the time has come for the two producers from Innsbruck to release their highly anticipated

first album:

“The Groove Collage”

And the title was chosen accurately! Just like James once said to Bobby: “Whatever i play, it´s got to be funky!” Keeping the faith

to this motto Ed & Enne painted a detailed sound collage on their record, showing up ALL the different shades of Funk music with

sensitive strokes of the brush. The journey into boogie wonderland sets off with the laidbeack easy name in Munich. A perfect

song for cruising on a warm summer day. But when being hit by the classical funk stomper “It´s Hip To Be Square” (feat. Vocals and

lyrics by Felix Neuenhoff) or the latin breakbeat explosion “Vamos Irmanos” there is nowhere to run, nowhere to hide! Ed and Enne

are taking no prisoners: with rolling drumbreaks, cutting horn sections, percussions, squeaking wahwah guitars and excessive Rhodes

piano solos the two funkateers from Austria FORCE you on the dancefloor. Just when you are about to loose control of your feet, you

get struck by a smooth grooving jazz fusion track like”Vibes In Space” which takes you away from the club into a more comfortable

and relaxed place, bringing you down into a more chilled mood.

As you can see “The Groove Collage” is a diversified and modern funk album on which Ed Royal & Enne express their own musical

affections and influeces while having evidently lots referencesto musical predecessors sharing the same positive vibes like Azymuth,

Fred Wesley & the Jb´s, Norman Whitfield, Herbie Hancock, Manu Dibango, Giorgo Moroder, Airto Moreira, Sergio Mendez, Deodato,

Undisputed Truth, Norman Cook or the Stereo MC´s ...

Quotes:

“Lovely album! Should do very well among the funk & jazz heads - especially the ladies.”

Wim Plug (Kraak & Smaak / Jalapeno Records)

“Ed & Enne are my favourite artists in this kind of music!”

Rino (Dublex Inc. / Pulver Records)

“It´s a good think - solid funk!”

Tom Wieland (7 Samurai / Panoptikum / Les Gamma)
